Rebelo was consistently faster today with all of her splits compared to her previous National Record. The biggest difference came on her 2nd 50 as she was 0.32 seconds faster.
In both instances, Rebelo came home strong as her last 50 was faster than both her 2nd and 3rd 50s. This was also shown during the race as she was 5th at the 100 mark before moving up to 4th at the 150 mark and then charging home to earn the win.
Rebelo holds both the 100 and 200 backstroke national records. She also is a member of the 4×100 mixed medley relay record as well. Her European Title tonight also puts Portugal on the medal table as they did not win any medals on night 1.
Rebelo also made history capturing Portugal’s first ever European Championship swimming title. The country previously has won one silver medal and three bronze medals.
