Jason Lin of Taipei has committed to Caltech for this coming season, joining their class of 2025. Lin currently attends Taipei American School.
TOP TIMES (LCM / SCY conv.)
- 50 breast – 29.89 / 25.88
- 100 breast – 1:05.82 / 56.93
- 200 breast – 2:22.32 / 2:03.40
Lin is a strong breaststroker who should have an immediate impact on Caltech’s roster, and his speed in the 50m breast will be especially strong on their 200 medley relay. In short course meters, he’s been 1:01.96 and 2:15.44, respectively, which roughly convert to 55.81 and 2:02.01.
At the 2020 International Association of Southeast Schools (IASAS) Championships, Lin set IASAS records in the 100 SCM breast (1:03.04) and 200 SCM breast (2:16.98).
During the 2019-20 season, Lin would’ve been the top 200 breaststroker on the Caltech roster by over five seconds. He would’ve also been the only Beaver under 58 in the 100 breast. He would’ve finished second in the 200 breast and fourth in the 100 breast at the 2020 SCIAC Championships with his SCM conversions, where Caltech placed sixth out of nine teams.
Lin joins Jake Goldman in Caltech’s incoming class.

Wow, Caltech is on the rise.
What are the SCM conversions? Probably a more accurate representation.
