British Nissan Ambassadors Could Claim Gold Of Another Kind In Rio

  0 Retta Race | July 29th, 2016

For a handful of British Olympic athletes competing at the 2016 Olympic Games, they’ll receive an additional piece of ‘gold’ if able to stand atop the medals podium in Rio.

Nissan Great Britain, who sponsors 10 Olympic and 6 Paralympic athletes, has announced that, if any their 16 athlete ambassadors win gold in Rio, they’ll also receive a new gold Leaf EV vehicle as a reward. And by gold, they mean straight-up, sparkling, sun-reflecting, cannot-miss, as-gold-as-a-Rolex gold.

Not just head-turning in color, the words ‘Rio 2016 Gold Medalist’ are adorned on the hood, both sides, as well as the rear bumper, giving onlookers no mistake as to who is behind the wheel.

“Giving our gold medal-winning Nissan athletes a gold Nissan LEAF is our way of celebrating their incredible successes,” said Nissan Great Britain marketing director Chris Marsh.

“Nissan is fully behind all of the GB athletes heading to Rio,” said Marsh, “but will of course be keeping a close eye out for those we have individually supported over the course of the Games’ cycle on their road to Rio 2016.”

According to Nissan UK’s site, there are two aquatic athletes sponsored for Rio and both are from the Paralympic realm. Amy Marren will be swimming in her 2nd Paralympic Games after debuting in London at just 14 years of age. Matt Wylie earned two gold medals at the 2014 European Junior Para-Swimming Championships and will be targeting his first Olympic medal this year in Rio.
