The 2020 Colorado Girls’ 4A State Championships came down to the wire as Cheyenne Mountain High School defeated 2019 champion Rampart High School by just 8 points. Caroline Bricker picked up a winning double for Cheyenne Mountain, starting with a new 4A Record in the 200 IM. Bricker raced to a 2:02.03, clipping the former mark of 2:02.33 done by Mackenzie Stein in 2011 and dropping over a second. She went on to win the 100 breast in a lifetime best 1:02.13.
Rampart’s Lindsey Immel swept the sprints, first putting up a lifetime best 23.53 in the 50 free. Immel returned to repeat as champion in the 100. She broke 51 for the first time, dominating in 50.32.
Niwot sophomore Mary Codevilla also put up a pair of wins. She opted for the 200 free instead of the 200 IM, where she was the 2019 champion, this time around. Codevilla won that race in 1:49.31. She came within half a second of the 4A Record with a 4:55.01 in prelims of the 500 free. Codevilla went on to win the final in 4:57.37.
