Brian Benzing Explains How NCAA Championships Prepared him for Olympic Trials

2024 U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS

Towson’s Brian Benzing was a surprise star at the 2024 NCAA Championships, placing 2nd in the 100 breast in 50.59. At the Olympic Trials, Benzing surprised once again, taking the 7th seed out of prelims with a 1:00.16 before ultimately placing 12th in the semi-finals with a 1:00.29. Benzing explains how dealing with the pressure of the NCAA Champs helped him in Indianapolis.

I don’t think you can compete at US Trials if you’re not eligible of representing the USA, so you indeed misread somewhere.

He went to high school in Norway when his dad got transferred there for work. I’ll ask, but I don’t see any indication that he has Norwegian citizenship.
