HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Boston University women’s swimming & diving team closed out its Patriot League dual schedule with a 213-81 victory at Colgate on Saturday afternoon at Lineberry Natatorium.

Junior Sasha Ramey collected a trio of victories, senior Sumi Cameron swept the diving events, and seven others collected wins on the day.

Ramey swept the butterfly events, winning the 200-yard event in 2:09.80 before finishing first in the 100 with a time of 57.54. Her first win of the day came in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:05.58.

Cameron posted a score of 280.28 in the 1-meter diving event before adding another victory with a 312.68 on the 3-meter board.

Sophomore Stella Langenbach (200 free, 1:54.58), senior Lara Mitchell (100 back, 56.68), junior Fia McCarty (100 breast, 1:07.92), senior Madison Kim (100 free, 54.06), senior Sydney Sorbello (200 back, 2:09.50), senior Ava Berzanski (200 breast, 2:26.80) and sophomore Haley Newman (400 IM, 4:31.07) each collected a win in the team victory.

In the relays, Mitchell, senior Clarissa Hoyt, Newman and Sorbello took first in the 200-yard medley in a time of 1:47.60 while Langenbach, Kim, Sorbello and Mitchell teamed up for win in the 400-yard freestyle (3:35.00).

BU will return to competition next Saturday (Jan. 27) when it hosts Bryant for its Senior Meet. The dual will start at 1:30 p.m.

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Boston University men’s swimming & diving team closed out its Patriot League dual schedule with a 204-73 victory at Colgate on Saturday afternoon at Lineberry Natatorium.

Sophomore Tony Ponomarev and freshman Jonathan Tsang each claimed two victories and freshman Zein Mahana swept the diving events. Seven others earned wins on the day.

Ponomarev swam a winning time of 1:44.69 in the 200-yard freestyle then added an other win in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 1:53.75. In the 200-yard butterfly, Tsang touched the wall first with a time of 1:52.08 and also took first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.12).

On the diving boards, Mahana posted season highs in bothe the 3-meter (312.90) and 1-meter (304.88) events to finish first in both.

Other winners on the day were senior Dolan Grisbaum (1000 free, 10:07.43), junior Keegan Duffy (100 back, 52.98), junior Justin Liao (100 breast, 57.83), senior Justin Lee (50 free, 21.86), graduate student Kyle Falkstrom (100 free, 47.55), junior Andy Carlson (200 breast, 2:12.10) and freshman Evan Liu (400 IM, 4:12.03).

Ponomarev, Carlson, Lee and junior Pier Bressan teamed up for a win in the 200-yard medley relay, posting a time of 1:35.19. BU closed the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Lee, senior Jackson Olin, Bressan and Falkstrom finished in 3:11.36.

BU will return to competition next Saturday (Jan. 27) when it hosts Bryant for its Senior Meet. The dual will start at 1:30 p.m.

HAMILTON – The Colgate men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams celebrated their 10 seniors in a dual meet against Boston University on Saturday afternoon inside Lineberry Natatorium. The men’s team fell 204-73 while the women’s team suffered a 213-81 setback.

MG King and Lucy Art picked up wins for the women’s team. King secured first place in the 500-yard free, clocking in at 5:11.69. They bested Boston U’s second-place swimmer Lara Mitchell by nearly six full seconds. Addisyn Donfris took third place (5:21.46). 

Art’s first-place finish came in the 50-yard free after touching the wall in 24.68 seconds, edging out BU’s Stella Langenbach’s time of 25.00 seconds. Brooke Garretson (25.47) and Elizabeth Rainey (25.53) captured fourth and fifth place finishes, respectively. 

Ellie Sundin provided another highlight on the women’s side, rebreaking her first-year record on the 1-meter dive with a score of 270.75 – good enough to qualify for the Zone diving meet in Princeton, New Jersey, on March 11. 

Jordan Hurt claimed a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200-yard fly (2:09.94) and 100-yard free (54.51), just off the leader’s times of 2:09.80 and 54.06, respectively. Audrey Collins also earned a second-place finish in the 100-yard back with a time of 1:00.64. 

The women’s 400-yard free relay team of Rainey, Hurt, Garretson, and Art brought home another second-place time of 3:37.12, just behind Boston U’s winning quartet time of 3:35.00.

Men | Boston University 204, Colgate 73

Colgate saw plenty of top three finishes on the men’s side Saturday afternoon. Tyler BosmaDrew Hicks, and Cooper Luedde finished consecutively in second, third, and fourth in the 50-yard free with respective times of 22.28, 22.30, and 22.42 seconds. 

Luedde and Jack Lira took third and fourth, respectively, in the 200-yard free with respective times of 1:47.18 and 1:47.18.

Tim Brooks highlighted Colgate’s finish in the 100-yard free, clocking in at 48.84 seconds, good for second place and just behind Boston U’s first-place time of 47.55 seconds. Jack Schurtz-Ford captured second place in the 200-yard back (1:56.04). 

Colgate’s 200-yard medley relay team of JD SuarezRyan JeeScott Pejic, and Schurtz-Ford finished with a second-place time of 1:35.75, just behind Boston U’s winning time of 1:35.19. 

In the final event of the afternoon, Colgate’s 200-yard medley relay team led by Lira, Brooks, Pejic, and Schurtz-Ford earned a second-place finish with a time of 3:13.55.

Colgate wraps up the regular season with the Boston University Winter Open Feb. 9-10 before taking on the Patriot League Championships Feb. 21-24 in Annapolis, Md.
