Thanks to blueseventy, our presenting partner for  Weekly Wonders of Age Group Swimming (July 13-19, 2020.).

Baylor Stanton, 12, Gwinnett Aquatics (GA-GA): Between two different July invites, 12-year-old Baylor Stanton crushed personal-bests in seven different races. On July 11, Stanton hit personal-bests in the 200-yard free (1:49.46), 100-yard fly (55.91), 200-yard fly (2:03.90), and 200-yard back (2:03.20). On July 26, he added bests in the 50-yard free (23.09), 500-yard free (5:01.02), and 100-yard breast (1:04.59), while also putting up new best times in the 200-yard back (2:01.97) and 200-yard fly (2:03.12).

Lydia Jacoby, 15, Seward Tsunami Swim Club (STSC-AK): In Alaska, 15-year-old Lydia Jacoby hit the best 100-yard breast time for a 15-16-year-old girl this month. Jacoby was 1:01.64 at the AK Black and Gold Time Trial meet. In the same meet, Jacoby went 26.55 in the 50-yard free and 1:02.17 in the 100-yard back. The 100 breast time is Jacoby’s fourth-best career swim. In the spring of 2019, Jacoby went 1:01.4 and 1:00.4 at a Sectional meet, and in the fall of 2019 she went 1:00.6 in Alaska’s high school season. Jacoby is a rising high school junior, and closing in on our top 20 recruits in her class.

Lexie O’Keefe, 11, U.S.R.P. Racers (USRP-FL): 11-year-old Lexie O’Keefe hit career-bests in three races at the Battle of Volusia in Florida. O’Keefe went 28.20 in the 50 free, 6:02.80 in the 500 free and 12:37.66 in the 1000 free. In the 50, the time drop was a few tenths of a second. In the 500, it was a drop of almost 30 seconds. In the 1000, O’Keefe cut more than 15.

Sullivan Labno, 15, Riptide Swim Club (RIPT-MN): Swimming at a Minnesota intrasquad meet, 15-year-old Sullivan Labno broke five minutes for the first time in his career in the 500 free – and what a time to break such a monumental barrier. Labno’s previous lifetime-best was a 5:10.89 from last fall, but Labno had been dropping fast – he was 5:19 before that. Swimming in an event where no other swimmer broke 5:40, Labno crushed a 4:59.25 for a drop of more than eleven and a half seconds.
