VESTAL, N.Y. – The America East Championships are still four weeks away but the Binghamton swimming & diving teams closed out their regular season with their strongest dual meet of the season, sweeping Marist on Senior Day on Saturday at the Saunders Aquatic Center. The Bearcat women defeated the Red Foxes 195-105 while the men were victorious by a 186.5-113.5 margin.

“A lot of things went right for us today,” head coach Jerry Cummiskey said. “I think we had good energy and competed very well. There were a lot of races that could have gone either way and they went our way convincingly. It’s a testament to our kids doing the work and we are peaking at the right time.”

Freshman Celia Webster was the top overall performer, capturing the women’s 200 back (2:08.68), 50 fly (27.38) and 100 IM (1:03.05). Junior Molly Greeley also won multiple events on the women’s side, placing first in the 50 free (25.30) and the 100 free (54.91).

Webster and Greeley were also part of the first-place 200 medley relay, which included juniors Courtney Moane and Molly Greeley as well as freshman Olivia Philbrick. The Bearcat quartet turned in a time of 1:48.91.

Lanfear and Preston also swam on the first-place 400 free relay team, which also included senior Justin Meyn and junior Henry Shemet. Their first-place time of 3:01.74 shattered the 2009 pool record of 3:05.99, that was set by Cornell back in 2008.
