Backstroker Lily Milner Announces Verbal Commitment to Utah’s Class of 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

High school senior Lily Milner has announced her verbal commitment to swim at the University of Utah as a member of the high school class of 2026.

I am so incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic careers at the University of Utah! I would like to thank all of my friends, family and especially coach Major for the endless support throughout this process. #goutes

Milner is from Kalispell, MT and swims for the Kalispell Aquatic Team, where she specializes in backstroke and sprint freestyle. A senior at Flathead High School, Milner is the reigning MHSA AA Champion in the 100 freestyle (50.98) and 100 backstroke (56.58). Swimming at the western site of  the 2021 Winter Junior Championships, Milner raced the 50 freestyle (23.51), 100 backstroke (55.78), and 200 backstroke (2:00.73), dropping personal bests in both backstroke events.

Personal Bests:

  • 50 Freestyle – 23.50
  • 100 Freestyle – 50.98
  • 200 Freestyle – 1:53.50
  • 100 Backstroke – 55.78
  • 200 Backstroke – 2:00.73

With her best times, Milner should immediately contribute to Utah’s backstroke group, which is currently led by senior Emma Lawless. Milner’s personal bests in both the 100 and 200 backstroke would rank her 4th on Utah’s roster this season. With Lawless, who holds personal bests of 53.70/1:56.22, set to graduate (unless she opts to use her 5th year of eligibility), Utah will be looking to re-build their backstroke group next season. Currently, freshman Norah Hay will be the fastest remaining backstroker next season with times of 55.01 and 1:57.69.

At the 2021 PAC-12 Championships, Milner would have placed 19th in both backstroke events with her best times. In addition, she would have been just off qualifying for the C-final in the 100 freestyle, which required a time of 50.19 to make it back for another swim. At those championships, the Utah women finished 5th out of 7 teams, scoring 952 points in the process.

With her commitment, Milner is set to join  Sydney Even, Chloe Thompson, Erin Palmer, and Katelyn Buono in Utah’s class of 2026.
