AthleticFoodie Launches Ambassador Program with 5 Olympians

The AthleticFoodie™ Genesis

Garrett was diagnosed with dangerously high blood pressure in 2005. It nearly forced him to give up his Olympic dream.  Garrett drilled-down on this challenge, a very serious health issue, completely revamping his diet. His focus and perseverance saved his Olympic dream and netted him two gold medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Inspired by what he had learned about the impact of his own dietary changes, Garrett dove deep into the world of nutrition-rich, great-tasting food.  With the passion of an Olympian on the path to a gold medal, he traveled the world working in famous restaurant kitchens in Italy, France, Copenhagen, Spain, and New York City, searching for new ways to make delicious dishes.  His journey–chronicled under the handle AthleticFoodie, which evolved into a website and media-hub– attracted global attention.  Garrett has been called on to share his knowledge everywhere from the White House, to schools, sports teams, TEDx, universities, and endless TV and radio appearances.

Today AthleticFoodie™ is synonymous with energy-dense snacks engineered for performance. Garrett has cooked for me before, and I’ve followed him to cooking appearances around the Austin-area. On occasion I’ve been the beneficiary of what I call the mother-load, getting the leftovers made for huge crowds at these events.  This is a sweet situation, having Garrett’s food in my fridge to eat for up to a week at a time, and my family eats it all–fast.  When Garrett offers you food, eat it. Trust me. You’ll love it.  As he was developing his snacks, I was lucky enough to try them all. My favorites are Goji Moji Pre-Workout Granola and Berry Strong Post-Workout Trail Mix, but they’re all great, far better than any snacks I’ve had before.

Garrett now has the backing of a lot of his Olympic peers. AthleticFoodie officially launched their Athlete Ambassador program with six elites: Matt Grevers, Jessica Hardy, Anthony Ervin, Elizabeth Beisel, Michael McBroom and Cammile Adams.

AthleticFoodie is perfect for swimmers of all levels, and having athletes at the top of the pyramid validate the products clearly demonstrates its value for optimal performance.

“HOW TO” AND “WHEN TO” EAT THE SNACKS 

Each snack label instructs the athlete when to eat it, for maximum benefit.

Seven snacks are available; two pre-workout granolas, three during/post-workout energy chews, and two post-workout trail mixes. And they are planning to launch their first post-workout beef jerky this fall!

I just checked the website, and I was able to directly talk to Garret-Weber Gale himself in a little chat box at the bottom. Just goes to prove how much this company, client advice, and producing great product for the athletes means to him

Why stop with shacks. Open a healthy food (organic) restaurant in North Austin where there are many swimmer families. Call it: Olympic Foodies, and serve:

Drilled chicken breaststroke
Butterfly pork chops
Baby backstroke ribs
Freestyle range chicken salad
