ASU Earns Verbal Commitment from Sprinter Cristian Musterait

Cristian Musterait from Souderton, in suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has verbally committed to swim at Arizona State University next fall. Musterait swims for coach Lou Williams at Souderton Area High School.

“Making my decision was very clear to me when I got home that ASU is the place where I want to continue my journey. The whole team is an amazing group of people who want the best for each other whether it be in the pool, in the classroom, or just in general. The pool is state of the art and same with all of their facilities. As coaches go, I don’t know what better coaches could be offered. All the coaches there have years of experience and don’t only coach but you can see they build great relationships with their swimmers as well. Knowing that swimming is something I want to pursue and get not just good but great, I feel very confident that ASU is the place where I can achieve greatness.”

Musterait could be the recruit of the season for ASU. He has “never swum club – only the high school swim season and water polo in the fall,” he told SwimSwam. Nevertheless, Musterait represented Souderton Area High School at the PIAA AAA State Meet last year, placing second in the 50 free (20.32) and fourth in the 100 free (44.91). He also anchored the 200 medley relay in 19.63.

Best SCY times:

  • 50 free flat start – 20.32
  • 50 free relay – 19.63
  • 100 free – 44.91

Musterait’s future teammates in the Arizona State University class of 2021 include Grant House, Jack Dalmolin, Joshua Vedder, and Will Brenton.

“I know I have more potential and I know ASU is going to help me reach it.”
