Emily Landeryou, a senior at South Lakes High School in Reston, Virginia, has verbally committed to swim at the United States Military Academy for the 2017-18 season. “I chose the USMA because I’ve always wanted to serve my country and found the perfect niche at West Point. The team and coaches were extremely welcoming and made me feel like a part of the family. The school offers so many academic majors too! I’m excited to see how I can grow at this amazing institution, go Black Knights!”
Landeryou swims for South Lakes High School and for Nations Capital Swim Club under coach John Flanagan. Primarily a butterflyer and 200 freestyler, Landeryou has been a finalist at the Virginia 6A State High School Championships in each of her three years. At the 2016 VHSL 6A State Meet she helped South Lakes to a 14th-place team finish with a 10th in the 200 free, a 10th in the 100 fly, a fly leg on their 13th-place 200 medley relay, and the anchor on their 9th-place 400 free relay.
In club swimming Landeryou skipped the 2016 long course season championship meets but has had an active fall season already. Her best short course yards times come from the 2015 NCSA Spring Championships, 2015-16 high school season, and 2016 Spring Sectionals in Ithaca, New York. Her top times include:
- 100 fly – 56.52
- 200 fly – 2:08.85
- 100 free – 53.59
- 200 free – 1:53.76
Landeryou will join fellow-commit Camille Long in the Army West Point class of 2021.
