Greetings from New York City! This Saturday, Dec 7th Imagine Swimming will be hosting the annual Imagine Invite swim meet. This is a one-day age group swim meet. Between sessions, we will have a Showcase 50 Freestyle, featuring Olympian Anthony Ervin.
Imagine Swimming is the premier swim school of New York City (www.imagineswimming.com), with over 3500 swimmers across Manhattan and Brooklyn. Imagine Swimming has an official USAS club called the Manhattan Makos (www.manhattanmakos.com). Anthony is the Ambassador of Imagine Swimming and a coach of the Manhattan Makos.
100% of the proceeds of the swim meet will be going to Waves4Water which is a Hurricane Sandy relief fund. Only one year has passed and with so many families still displaced, support to the local community is necessary.
In addition, it is our goal to promote diversity in the sport of swimming through this event. Makos Head Coach Elliot Ptasnik is the Chairman of Diversity & Inclusion for the NYC Metro area and for the last four years, Anthony has been an integral part of this campaign. In this event, Tony will be racing Brett Fraser, Olympian and NCAA champion from the Cayman Islands, and Doug Lennox, Olympian for Puerto Rico. Three Olympians from three different countries all with different backgrounds. That is diversity!
Great idea. Good luck to all!
