Serbia had the lead from the start as Velimir Stjepanovic led off in a 48.60, the fastest lead off of the night. Then, Andrej Barna hit the water after a huge 46.86 split last night on the anchor leg which moved Serbia up from 5th to 1st in the men’s 4×100 free relay. Barna swam a 47.22 tonight, the only sub-48 split for the men.

Notably, all seven relays tonight with the male-male-female-female order.

Despite Serbia having a lead into the second exchange, Hungary climbed from 4th to first after the third leg and the first leg of the women as Panna Ugrai swam a 54.38. Nikolett Padar sealed the win anchoring in a 53.71, the fastest split of all the women tonight. Padar also helped Hungary’s women’s 4×100 free title the other night.

Anastasia Gorbenko also notably had a big split as she swam a 53.93. Gorbenko had a double in the night as she swam in semifinals of the women’s 200 IM about 40 minutes before her relay swim.
