Andrea Fong of Moorestown, New Jersey has made a verbal commitment to swim at Villanova University beginning in 2017-18.
“I’m so excited to announce my commitment to Villanova University. The coaches and team immediately made me feel at home from the moment I stepped onto campus. It has the perfect balance of swimming and academics and I can’t wait for the next four years! Go wildcats!”
Fong is a senior at Moorestown High School and the captain of the swim team. Last season she competed in the 500 free and 200 IM in the New Jersey Public Schools State Meet and again in the 200 IM at the NJSIAA Girls Swimming Meet of Champions, where she finished seventh. Fong swims year-round for Jersey Wahoos. Her brother, Zach Fong, is a sophomore butterflier at UVA. Says his sister, “He had an outstanding freshman year and I can’t wait to see what else he has in store for this year!”
Fong’s ties to the Wildcats go deeper than her ties to the Cavaliers, though: Her father holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees from Villanova. “I’m looking forward to following in [my brother’s] footsteps as a student athlete and my dad’s as a Villanova grad (BSME ‘86 & MBA ’94).”
Every single one of her best times comes from the last 12 months:
