Several records fell at the 2019 MIAA Division 1 Championships, where Andover took the girls’ team title. Michaela Chokureva swept the sprints with a pair of record-setting swims for Andover. She started with a new State Record in the 50 free, posting a 23.18 to win by nearly 2 seconds. Chokureva followed that up with another dominant State Record performance of 50.09 in the 100 free.

North Andover’s Malia Amuan repeated as champion in the 200 free with a new State Record of 1:48.29. She opted out of the 100 free, where she was the 2018 champion, in favor of the 500 free this season. Her 4:53.56 there was a new Meet Record and the only sub-5:00 of the field.

The MIAA state meet is split in two, as there are a group of teams that compete in either fall or winter. On the boys’ side, there weren’t as many swimmers entered here as they don’t have a split season.

One individual highlight came from Marshfield’s Bryce Hunt, the 2018 champion. In the 100 breast, Hunt swam a 1:01.72. That was just 5 hundredths shy of a Meet Record.
