Director of Athletics Nicks Davidson announces the hiring of Adam Epstein as the head coach of Keiser University’s new men’s and women’s swimming programs.
“I would first like to say thank you to Mr. Davidson, Mr. Swogger, and the administration for providing me with this opportunity to be named the first Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach at Keiser University, said Epstein. I am very excited and honored to have the ability to build a program from the ground up. This team will lay the groundwork and foundation for the future of Seahawk Nation.”
Epstein comes from Indian River State College where he has been an assistant swimming and diving coach for the last five years. Since that time he has helped the teams continue their national win streaks with 42 straight national titles on the men’s side, and win their 38th national title on the women’s side. Throughout his tenure with Indian River, the teams have broken 51 NJCAA National Records.
Director of Athletics Nick Davidson said, “Coach Epstein brings us great credibility in the sport of swimming. He has been a part of great success at Indian River State College. I know he willbring his connections and the same successful mentality to our program. Adam cares about the student-athlete experience and will strive to develop his student-athletes into great people. I look forward to watching Coach Epstein develop his program.”
In the summer of 2013, Epstein made his way to the international swimming stage, where he was appointed as the Team USA Head Jr. Coach for the 19th World Maccabiah Games in Israel. He was a member of a Team USA delegation that had over 1,000 athletes, coaches, and staff, while competing amongst 72 other countries in 42 different sports. In Israel, Team USA’s swim team accounted for 71 medals.
Epstein on what his goals are for the programs, “I want to create a culture where everyone puts the team above themselves. We will strive for excellence in everything that we do from the classroom, to the pool and the weight room. Most importantly we will strive to be good people, and represent Keiser University and the community with dignity and respect. If we can accomplish these tasks, we will put Keiser University on the map at the NAIA national stage.”
Prior to joining Indian River, Adam served as a graduate assistant for both the men’s and women’s swimming teams at his Alma Mater, Florida Atlantic University. While there, he helped coach both school and Sun Belt Conference record holders on the FAU swim team. He was also the senior coach at Fort Lauderdale Aquatics, where he helped guide numerous swimmers to the national stage.
As an athlete, Epstein was a four-year letter winner for the Florida Atlantic University Owls, as well as the team captain his senior year. He was also the President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was a recipient of the Athletic Department’s Community Service Award, and the Spirit Award.
Epstein graduated from FAU with degrees in Public Communication, Sociology, and Social Sciences. He is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Communication at Florida Atlantic University.
