2025 U.S. NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

We’re less than a month out from the marquee domestic event of the year, as the American team for the 2025 World Championships in Singapore will be determined in three weeks’ time at the U.S. National Championships.

The meet kicks off on Tuesday, June 3, and runs through Saturday, July 7, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Provided they’re under the World Aquatics ‘A’ cut, the top two swimmers in each event will qualify for the World Championship team. In the 100 and 200 freestyle, the top four finishers will automatically qualify for relays, with up to six considered, depending on roster size.

To follow along with the build-up to the meet, keep track of our event-by-event previews with our official preview index below.

My boldest prediction going into this trials is that I think Smith will beat Huske for that second spot in the 100 fly (unless she decides not to swim the 100 fly) Smith is arguably looking better this season than last year at this time and if she goes even a little faster at trials than she was last year I think she can do it especially if she goes out in 25 sec like she did in the 50 two weeks ago and she has another 28 sec back half.

The women’s team is gonna be a bloodbath in a good way, the best move on

The men’s team is gonna be a bloodbath in a bad way, whoever can survive will get dragged on

There are so many blanks to fill with Fink, Murphy, Dressel, Kalisz and Fallon gone. The financial problem that forced Magic Man out of water for months doesn’t help either.

I think King wins 100 breast cause I can’t remember the last time she lost when swimming in Indianapolis

Since she’s winding down her career, I’d like to see her go out on a high.

you think audrey Derivaux misses out?

She faces strong competition. I’m leaning towards Shackell in 200 fly. Maybe Audrey could make it in 200 back against Bacon and Curzan?

Solid predictions; Grimes is the biggest question mark on this list.

Is there a psych sheet yet / is Douglass skipping the 200 IM? I couldn’t find one, but I’m doubtful that Hayes can beat her in the 200IM if she’s racing it.

I’d love to see Alex Walsh return to the 400IM

Knowing USA Swimming, the reaction to the heat they took for the number of scratches at the PSS is going to be to not publish entries anymore until the very last minute.

Emma Weber is swimming very well. Don’t count her out!

Would love to see Curzan get back on the team

Anyone know the status on Lydia Jacoby? Has she been training in Europe?

Simone Manuel does not move the needle in the W 4 x 200 FR-R.

Kate Douglass will need to seriously reconsider the W 200 IM (Day 5) after she fails to qualify for the W 100 BR (Day 4).

Katie Grimes is sinking faster than the RMS Titanic.

Pretty certain all the finals will be on Peacock. Prelims maybe also Peacock, but maybe just through USA Swimming App.

They’ve live streamed it on YouTube in 2023, and had all the finals on there as well
