Dartmouth Wins Invite Against Northeastern and UMass

Men’s Swimming

HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men’s swimming and diving won the Tate Ramsden Invitational, defeating UMass (232-91).

The Big Green were first in all but one of the 18 events throughout the weekend.

Morning Session
Dartmouth took the top three spots in the 100 fly, led by Alexander Ye (50.05). Isaac Weigel (50.62) and Steven Mendley (52.02) followed soon after. A few events later in the 100 breast, it was Weigel that was first (58.17) and Ye placed second (58.66).

In the 200 free, Tim Park and Tim Cushman touched just over half a second apart to finish first and second with times of 1:42.16 and 1:42.73, respectively. Joe Moll won the 400 IM (4:11.09), leaving three seconds behind him. Not long after, Moll picked up his second victory, this time in the 100 back with a time of 52.16. Cushman took second in 52.40.

To end the first session, Dartmouth won the 200 medley relay (1:34.04). Made up of Ye, Weigel, Mendley and Park, the relay out-finished UMass by over a second and a half.

Evening Session
Dartmouth took first and second on the 3-meter board, with Kyle Schubert leading the way with a Zone Championship qualifying score of 323.15 and Jason Rickenbacher following with a 221.20. Weigel won his third event of the day, the 1000 free, with a time of 9:45.14, while Ye touched soon after in second (9:47.20).

In the 200 back, Moll was first (1:52.33), followed by Molloy (1:53.23), Cushman (1:55.99) and Joseph Hurle (1:59.49). Mendley claimed the win in the 100 free (47.21), while Parker Hershberger was victorious in the 200 breast (2:11.67).

The Big Green ended the weekend by taking first in the 400 free relay (3:05.05). Made up of Weigel, Mendley, Park and Cushman, the relay beat UMass by over five seconds.

Dartmouth will be at Columbia on Saturday, Feb. 5, for its final dual meet before the Ivy League Championship at the end of the month.

Women’s Swimming

HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women’s swimming and diving won the Tate Ramsden Invitational, defeating Northeastern (181-155) and UMass (215-102).

The Big Green were first in 13 of the 18 events throughout the weekend.

Morning Session
Mia Leko won the 100 fly in a new meet record of 55.24, leaving less than half a second between her and the Northeastern swimmer in second. In the 200 free, Ashley Post was first (1:52.39), finishing over five seconds ahead of a Huskey.

Mary Howley picked up a first-place finish in the 100 back (58.12), winning by less than three-tenths. To end the first session, the Big Green won the 200 medley relay in 1:46.95. Made up of Howley, Rachel Zhang, Leko and Post, the relay out-finished Northeastern by two-tenths of a second.

Evening Session
Dartmouth’s divers took the top two spots on 1-meter, with Isabella Lichen winning (292.10) and Alyssa Palacios taking second (288.45) and both qualifying for the Zone Championship. Sarah Minnigh won the 1650 free in 17:40.40, beating a Northeastern swimmer by a whopping 26 seconds.

Post won her second event of the day, the 100 free, in a time of 51.62. R. Zhang took the 200 breast title (2:28.21), beating a Huskey by just one one-hundredth of a second. Leko broke yet another meet record, this time in the 200 fly (2:02.27).

The Big Green ended the weekend with a win in the 400 free relay (3:30.94). Composed of R. Zhang, Zoe Wortzman, Post and Leko, the relay out-touched Northeastern by a second and a half.

HANOVER, N.H.– The Massachusetts swim and dive program competed at the Tate Ramsden Invitational on January 21-22. The women came away with a scores of 104.5 and 102, while the men fell to the hosts, 232-91.

Kelsey Cordery led the way for the women, winning the 200 IM (2:13.12), racing in the second slot for the first-place 200 Free-Relay team (1:37.69), finishing third in the 100 Free and helping the 400 Free-Relay squad to a third-place finish (1:48.80).

Senior, Mia Flagiello placed first in the 100-Free (1:07.69) and raced as a part of the 200-medley relay team that finished third.

Caroline Mahoney and Kirsten Ardis raced with the 200 free group that placed first as well as the third place 400 free relay group. Jane Denenberg took first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:36.78.

Charles Rothenberger took home two second place finishes on the day.  He swam leadoff in the 200-medley relay that touched the wall in 1:25.24 and notched a second place in the 400 free-relay (3:10.79). Juan Montori also raced in the third spot in both relays.

Dias Konysbayer placed fifth in the 500 free the Minutemen to places 2-5 and raced as the anchor in the 400-free relay. William Dubois took second in two events, the 500-free, and 100-free, while placing third in the 1000-free with a time of 9:51.49.

The swim and dive program will face Fordham on January 29 as their last race before heading to the Atlantic 10 Championships in February.

HANOVER, N.H.- Devon Muldoon made a splash for the Huskies swimming and diving team on the final day of the Tate Ramsden Invitational, winning the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:05.30.

After two days of events, Northeastern defeated UMass (222.50-104.50) but fell to host Dartmouth (181-155).

  •  Jamie Koo (55.67) and Hannah Seward (56.46) finished second and third in the 100 Yard Butterfly.
  • Muldoon finished second (4:37.44) and Francesca Arciniegas finished fifth (4:49.83) in the 400 IM.
  • Hannah Seward (1:57.58) Grace Miller (1:58.17) finished second and third in the 200 Yard Freestyle.
  • Lena Wang (1:09.04) and Stella Urness (1:09.10) finished second and third, respectively, in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
  • Kate Cosgrove (58.40) and Muldoon (58.53) finished second and third in the 100 Yard Backstroke.
  • The A quartet of Cosgrove, Wang, Koo and Emily Cooley had a strong second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:47.19.
  • Miller finished second with a time of 18:06.68, and Mary Banick finished fourth with a time of 18:30.34 in the 1650 Freestyle.
  • Bailey Smith finished third in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:07.09.
  • Koo finished second in the 100 Yard Freestyle (53.11).
  • Wang (2:28.22) and Nicole Linell (2:29.37) went second and third in the 200 Yard Backstroke.
  • The A quartet of Koo, Cooley, Nikita Pelletier and Seward closed out the day with a second-place finish in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (3:32.58).

The Huskies will return to the pool at Boston University on Friday, February 4 and Saturday, February 5.
