UNCA’s Carlton, Liberty’s Chennault Earn CCSA Weekly Swim & Dive Awards

Charlotte, NC – UNC Asheville and Liberty have taken the honors of CCSA Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week. Delaney Carlton of UNC Asheville and Lauren Chennault of Liberty put on stellar performances over the weekend at their respective meets. Carlton, who placed first in six events, registered top times in three of the six events which she participated in. Liberty’s Chennault put up season bests in both the 1M and 3M dive, helping her secure the top spots in the TYR Senior Celebration.

CCSA Women’s Swimmer of the Week 

Delaney Carlton – UNC Asheville, Junior – Lilburn, Ga.

at Liberty/vs. Campbell – Defeated Liberty – 190-163, Defeated Campbell – 293-54

Competed in six events, six first-place finishes

  • Event: 50y free, 1st place, 22.94
  • Event: 200y free, 1st place, 1:51.94 & Personal best
  • Event: 200y Free Relay, 1st place, 1:33.60, LO split 23.15
  • Event: 200y Medley Relay, 1st place, 1:43.35, Free leg 22.74r
  • Event: 100y free, 1st place, 51.55
  • Event: 400y Free Relay, 1st place, 3:26.99, anchor split 51.27r

“Carlton had a fantastic weekend of swims this past weekend against CCSA foes Liberty and Campbell. The junior from Lilburn, Georgia competed in six different events and notched first-place nods in all six. Individually, Carlton registered the top time in the 50-yard freestyle (22.94), 100-yard freestyle (51.55), and 200-yard freestyle (1:51.94). In the 200y free, Carlton set a new personal best in the event. Carlton also helped Asheville tally three relay victories in the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard medley, and 400-yard freestyle. Her split times in those relay wins were 23.15 (LO), 22.74r (free leg), and 51.27r (anchor), which were key in the Bulldogs coming out on top.”

CCSA Women’s Diver of the Week 

Lauren Chennault – Liberty, Sr. – Coppell, Texas

  • Three-meter diving/271.05/1st place
  • One-meter diving/260.70/2nd place

“Chennault had her best meet of the season to date, leading all divers in combined points at the TYR Senior Celebration.  She scored season bests on both boards, beginning with a winning score of 271.05 on three-meter on Friday night.  She then scored a season-best 260.70 to place second on one-meter on Saturday.”
