Miami University women’s swimming and diving team competed in their last dual meet at the Nixon Aquatic Center this season. They defeated Ball State by a score of 221-78 and chalked up their eighth win of the year.
The Red and White started off the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Brittany Dudzinski, Stephanie LeMire, Morgan Quesnel and Elise Campbell clocked in at 1:44.44.
Another gold-silver-bronze finish happened in the 200-yard freestyle. Ella Moynihan touched the wall first in 1:52.34. Molly Zilch and Claire Doerr came in second and third, respectively with times of 1:55.34 and 1:56.54. Moynihan also won the 50-yard freestyle, where she clocked in at 24.32. Logan Klinskyplace third with a time of 24.60.
Moynihan led yet another sweep for the RedHawks in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 52.53. Carolyn Jungersfinished in second (52.90) and Elise Campbell in third (52.99).
Miami completed in the 1-2-3 finish in the 100-yard backstroke. Izzy Herb led the way (56.31) with Brittany Dudzinski (57.07) and Carolyn Jungers (58.23) behind her. Herb also won the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.98). Carolyn Jungers (2:04.07) and Rachel Baker (2:06.43) finished the race in second and third, respectively.
Stephanie LeMire won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.92) with Holly Schuster (2:19.36) and Hannah Fuchs (2:20.85) behind her. Fuchs won the 200-yard IM (2:07.59) and Holly Schuster(2:08.09) and Abby Stone (2:08.49) placed second and third, respectively.
Claire Doerr clocked in first in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5:05.22. Julia Campbell placed second, timing in at 5:08.04. A time of 5:08.19 earned Emma Bradley third place in the race. Bradley won the 1650-yard freestyle for the RedHawks, timing in at 17:18.34. Shay Spelman finished in second and clocked in at 17:43.13.
Pei Lin swept the diving events once again, winning the one-meter and three-meter dives. In the one-meter, she scored a 331.57. Taylor LeCount placed second with a score of 269.55. Lin won the three-meter dive, scoring a 378.52. Jenna Karrowscored 268.57, earning her second place.
Miami’s men and women will meet back up when they head to Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. to take on the Eagles.
