SA does not consider Fina A qualifying times for non-Olympic events. Zane Waddell’s 24.78 in the 50 Back prelims and MIchael Houlie’s 26.91 in the 50 Breast final are still worth noting (since they are World Championship events). Both swims high up in the Fina rankings at this point in the season. Houlie is worth highlighting because he is only 18 years old and his time is faster than the existing World Junior Record of 26.97 (Houlie ages up later this year and will be 19 at 31st December 2019, so it won’t count as an officlal WJR) It could be one of the fastest times ever by an 18 year old….who knows?….probably an interesting article in it’s own right.… Read more »

Seeing as he just moved Im guessing he wanted to get a full training block in before resting for a meet like this– seems like a smart play especially with the olympics looming… Probably getting some work under his belt leading up to 2020
