6x All-American Ellery Parish Commits to Rice University

Ellery Parish, a senior at Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, Texas, has made a verbal commitment to Rice University for 2017-18.

“I’m so excited to have committed to Rice!  I felt so comfortable and welcomed by the team and the school as a whole.  I am looking forward to four years at this amazing school!  Go Owls!!”

Parish swims the 200/500 free double in high school, and at the 2016 Texas 5A State Championships she placed third in the 200 free (1:48.90). Her best events, though, are not contested in prep swimming. Ellery swims with Streamline Aquatics in San Antonio, and has achieved Winter Nationals and/or Summer Juniors standards in the 200/400/1500 free and 200 back.

A 6-time NISCA All-American and 2-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, her best times are:

  SCY LCM
200 free 1:48.81 2:03.71
500/400 free 4:53.05 4:20.74
1500 free 17:14.21
200 back 2:02.55 2:17.65

Parish is a nice pick-up for the Owls, who finished second at the 2016 Conference USA Championships. Her best SCY times in the 200 free and 500 free would have scored in their respective A finals and her 200 back would have been B final-worthy.
