Tonner DeBeer, a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and NISCA All-American from Louisville, Kentucky, has announced via social media her intention to swim for in-state Vanderbilt University in the fall.
“I am so excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at Vanderbilt University next year! #AnchorDown ??⚓️”
DeBeer swims for Sacred Heart Academy and Triton Swimming, under coach Scott Paulson. She was quadruple state champion at the 2017 Kentucky High School Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championships, winning the 100 fly (53.02) and 100 back (53.94) individually, and as a member of the 200 medley relay (24.92 leadoff in finals; 22.72 anchor in prelims) and 400 free relay (50.26 leadoff).
DeBeer is a nice pick-up for the Commodores. She would have scored in the B final of the 100 fly and the C finals of the 50 free and 100 back at 2017 SEC Championships, constituting Vanderbilt’s only points in those events.
