Sasha Ramey from Jacksonville, Florida has verbally committed to Louisiana State University for the 2021-22 season. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American will join Abby Maoz in the class of 2025. Ramey is a junior at The Bolles School. She swam fly and IM at the 2019 FHSAA Class 1A Championships, coming in 3rd in the 200 IM (2:04.04) and 11th in the 100 fly (58.17). She also anchored the state-champion 200 medley relay (23.14) and swam a leg on the winning 200 free relay (23.33). As a sophomore she came in 3rd in the 200 IM (2:01.60) and was 4th in the 100 breast (1:05.02) at the 2018 high school state meet.
Ramey represents Bolles School Sharks in club swimming. She swam 100 breast, 100 fly, and 200 IM at 2018 Winter Juniors East. This summer at Greensboro Futures, she competed in the 50 free, 100 breast, 100 fly, and 200 IM and came in 23rd in the IM. She finished the meet with a new time in the 200 IM (2:24.85). Earlier in the summer she had gone lifetime bests in the 100 fly (1:04.91) and 100 breast (1:17.59).
Ramey is just shy of scoring for LSU at the conference level, but with a year and a half left to go before she suits up for the Tigers, she has time. It took 1:58.76 in the 200 IM, 1:01.92/ 2:13.24 in the 100/200 breaststroke, 53.75 in the 100 fly, and 22.66 in the 50 free to score at 2019 SEC Championships.
