Marking one year to go until the Opening Ceremony of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, the multi-national event schedule for competitive sports was released on Wednesday, April 4th. None other than Australian sprint star Cameron McEvoy was on the front cover of the ticket guide, which details out the times and venues for each of the 275 events across 18 sports.
The competitive pool swimming events are set to take place at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, with Wednesday, April 4th marking the first day of racing. The men’s 100m backstroke, 200m breaststroke, 50m butterfly and 400m freestyle are on the schedule for day 1, as are the 50m breaststroke, S7 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly, 200m freestyle, 400m IM and 4x100m freestyle relay events for the women.
Prelims for swimming are set to begin at 10:30am local, with finals scheduled for 7:30pm.
Gameswide, the first gold medal to be awarded will be the Women’s Triathlon on Day 1, Thursday, April 5th, while the Rugby Sevens finals for men and women will represent the final gold medal events on Day 11 prior to the closing ceremony.
