Even in D3 we have swimmers going 21

Schools that are D3 are assigned that way because of size and not on the caliber of swimmers. It is not the same as college D3. It is possible hat D3 could have faster times than D2 or D1.

One thing to note is that D3 was not put on very well, in my opinion. D2 and D1 swimmers swam prelims and finals on separate days, while the D3 meet was done in one day, prelims and finals. That means that Archie swam the 200 and 500 twice along with relays, while D2 and D1 swimmers did that on separate days. Arizona high school needs to have D3 prelims and finals on separate days as well.

I totally agree. D3 az swimmers swam prelims and finals in one day with only a 110 minute break between prelims and finals warm up. D3 swimmers did not get a 24 rest period like D1 and D2 swimmers. Many D3 swimmers are fast and could have swim faster in finals if they weren’t dead tired from a 13 hour swim meet. That was poor planning, small schools but equally fast swimmers suffered slower times.
