District 10

GIRLS

The Saint Andrew’s girls won 7 of the 12 events to dominate district 10. That was thanks in large part to double wins from two of its Division I commit seniors.

Megan Moroney, who cracked our list of the top 20 prospects in the country and will head to Virginia next year, won the 200 free (1:48.99) and 100 fly (56.07), breaking a pool record in the 200 free. She also led off the championship 200 medley relay and anchored the winning 400 free relay.

Fellow senior Rachael Bradford-Feldman also won twice. The Louisville commit won the 200 IM (2:04.40) and 100 breast (1:06.32). She was also on the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays.

American Heritage freshman Sloan Sizemore was impressive at her young age. Sizemore won the 50 free and 100 free by solid margins.

BOYS

The Saint Andrew’s boys were also the class of the field, led by sophomore Nick Sharp and senior Nicholas Conrad.

Sharp won the 200 IM (1:59.99) and 100 back (55.58) for Saint Andrew’s. The senior Conrad, meanwhile, took the 50 free (22.05) and 100 free (48.68). The two bookended the winning 200 medley relay to open the meet.

American Heritage won both the free relays, getting big leadoff legs on both from Max Landau. Landau, a senior, was second in both the 50 and 100 frees to Conrad.

District 11

GIRLS

  1. Pine Crest – 580
  2. Westminster – 356
  3. South Florida Heat – 307
  4. University School – 298
  5. Calvary Christian – 187

Pine Crest took care of business in district 11, getting four individual wins from the combination of Marta Ciesla and Tyla Martin.

Ciesla, just a sophomore, was the fastest sprinter in the pool, blowing away the 50 free and 100 free fields. Ciesla was 23.44 in the 50 and 51.39 in the 100.

Just before each of those wins, the senior Martin came out on top for Pine Crest. Martin won the 200 free (1:53.73) and 100 fly (56.18).

The two combined to help Pine Crest take the 200 medley and 200 free relays, and Pine Crest was also able to win the 400 free relay with neither of those two on the squad.

University School sophomore Allison Kopas also won twice, taking the 200 IM and 100 back.

BOYS

  1. Pine Crest – 395
  2. University School – 383
  3. Sagemont – 256
  4. Calvary Christian – 250
  5. Westminster Academy – 241

The Pine Crest boys won a nailbiter with the University School, despite winning only the 1-meter diving event individually. That went to junior Austin Fields.

University School was able to get to the top of events, but didn’t have the depth to finish off Pine Crest. Nonetheless, they won the 200 medley and 200 free relays, plus got wins in the 500 free (freshman Patrick Groters) and 100 breast (senior Daniel Pereira).

Sagemont’s Mateo Gonzalez and North Broward Prep’s Anton Voronin were each double individual winners. Gonzalez took the 200 IM and 100 fly, while Voronin won the 50 and 100 frees.

For the boys, it was freshman Felipe Urrutia who led the way to a dominating victory. Urrutia won two races over the second half of the meet, and added a split on the winning 400 free relay.

Urrutia didn’t get his first win until the 500 free, where he went 5:07.36. He came back to win the 100 breast (1:03.32) later on, and pulled a tough double, swimming the very next race and helping Ransom Everglades win the 400 free relay.

Other winners for Ransom Everglades were sophomores Mati Junghahn and Jason Gould, who won back-to-back events early on with the 200 IM and 50 free, respectively.

Mast Academy’s Guy Ferndandes doubled up, winning the 100 fly and 100 back in his senior season.
