On Friday, Swimming Canada released their qualifying times for this year’s championship meets including Age Group Nationals, Eastern Nationals, Western Nationals, and Senior Nationals. The standards haven’t changed since the 2012-2013 standards were released.
Those four meets are some of the biggest meets of the year for Canadian swimming. The Eastern and Western Nationals usually taking place sometime in February, Age Group and Senior Nationals taking place in the middle of the summer.
Swimming Canada recently put in Age Group Nationals qualifying standards for certain events in the men’s 13 & under, and men’s 14 age groups as well as the women’s 12 & under, and the women’s 13 age groups. Before the 2012-2013 season there were no 50’s or 100’s for the men’s 13 & under and the women’s 12 & under. The men’s 14 year olds and women’s 13 year olds had no 50’s.
Updating the 2011-2012 standards, Swimming Canada added those events to the 2012-2013 program where they are here to stay for the 2013-2014 season. The standards for the new events have not changed this season.
