2-Time State Champion Daniel Seabaugh Verbally Commits to Missouri (2020)

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Verbal commitments for the high school class of 2021 have begun to trickle in, but there are still a number of 2020 graduates (who are starting their senior year in high school) to chase this fall for collegiate programs. Among the latest commitments is Daniel Seabaugh from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, near the state’s border with Illinois. He has committed to the University of Missouri, which shares a Tiger mascot with Central High School that he currently attends.

As a junior, Seabaugh was the Missouri Class 1 (small schools) state champion in the 200 free and 500 free. He set new class records in both races, and also anchored the championship-winning 200 free relay.

he is the most versatile prospect in the class, so Missouri will have some options on where to train him. Right now, the most likely spots appear to be the middle-distance freestyles and backstrokes. This fits well with Missouri’s strengths: the SEC’s fastest 200 freestyler last season (and Missouri’s first SEC champion in men’s swimming) was Mikel Schreuder, and the team had 3 of the 10 fastest 200 backstrokers in the conference as well.

Best Times in Yards:

  • 200 free – 1:39.14
  • 500 free – 4:29.83
  • 1000 free – 9:23.66
  • 1650 free – 16:11.72
  • 50 back – 22.92
  • 100 back – 49.92
  • 200 back – 1:53.29
  • 100 breast – 57.95
  • 200 breast – 2:07.92
  • 100 fly – 52.37
  • 200 fly – 1:52.03

Seabaugh is a versatile swimmer who is an SEC-caliber prospect in almost every discipline. He split 21.50 in the 50 free on a relay start last fall, highlighting the sprint freestyles as his biggest deficiency.

Seabaugh does his club training with River City Aquatics. He finished 8th in the 800m free (8:22.46) at the 2019 Des Moines Futures Championships and was also the 2019 LSC Champion in the 200m IM (2:09.95) and 400 IM (4:47.54).
