CSCAA Announces 2016 National Collegiate Open Water Championship

Join Kansas swimming and diving and the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association for the CSCAA National Collegiate Open Water Swimming Championships at Lone Star Lake near Lawrence, Kansas. Open to collegiate men’s and women’s teams from the NCAA, NAIA, CCCAA and NJCAA  are invited to compete in the 5K open water races scheduled for Sept. 17, 2016.

Centrally located in the United States, with easy access from the Kansas City International Airport (MCI) and lodging and amenities in nearby Lawrence, Lone Star Lake is a 185-acre lake which has served as the site of the swimming portion of triathlons and concrete canoe races, among other aquatic events. September’s event will be the first-of-its-kind championship for collegiate open water swimming.

In order to compete in the 2016 CSAA 5K Open Water Championships, a swimmer must have achieved the following pool time standard(s) between July 1, 2015 and the entry deadline.

500 SCY- 1000 SCY- 1650 SCY 

Women 5K Race 5:10.00- 10:30.00- 18:00.00

Men 5K Race 4:50.00- 10:00.00- 17:00.00

Quick Facts

Registration will take place via USA Swimming’s On-line Meet Entry System (OME) at usaswimming.org/ome, and will open in early July.

Special lodging rates have been secured at several Lawrence locations through preferred hotel partners from September 15-18 2016.

A tape-delayed production of the meet will be telecast through Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.
