Day three of the 2025 Korean Swimming Championships saw just one additional name be included in the list of World Championships qualifiers.

18-year-old Kim Youngbeom made it happen in the men’s 100m freestyle, busting out a time of 47.98 for the gold.

That easily cleared the World Aquatics ‘A’ standard of 48.34 needed for Singapore.

The teen’s performance also proved his first-ever sub-48-second swim from yesterday’s prelims wasn’t a fluke,

As we reported, the 2024 Junior Pan Pacific Championships gold medalist ripped a lifetime best of 47.96 to take the top seed. His performance rendered him just the 2nd Korean man ever to delve under the 48-second threshold to become the 7th-swiftest Asian swimmer in history.

Tonight he added .02 to still wind up on top. Two-time Olympian and world champion Hwang Sunwoo missed the mark, however, settling for silver in 48.41, just .07 outside the ‘A’ standard.

Olympic medalist Kim Woomin was also in the water, contesting the men’s 800m free. Unfortunately for Kim fans, the 23-year-old’s 7:50.57 podium topper fell short of the 7:48.66 marker needed for Singapore.

Kim still has the 400m free event in which he can try to capture a roster slot.

Kim Minseop was painstakingly short of the ‘A’ standard en route to winning the men’s 200m fly. Kim touched in a time of 1:56.81 to come within .30 of the 1:56.51 needed for Singapore.

Kim owns the Korean national record in this event, courtesy of the 1:54.95 put on the books at last year’s edition of this meet.
