15-Year-Old Rachel Ritter Clocks 2:15.74 200 BK on Day 3 of Westmont Summer Sectionals

Day 3 of the 2024 Summer Sectionals meet in Westmont saw 15-year-old Rachel Ritter out of Sioux Falls Swim Team win the women’s 200 back in 2:15.74. The swim marked a personal best for the youngster, coming in under her previous best of 2:16.30. She was out fast, splitting 31.68 on the first 50, then split 34.90, 35.00, and 34.16 respectively the rest of the way.

Following that swim, Northeastern Swim Team’s Aiden Gerst won the men’s 200 back in 2:02.65. It was a huge swim for Gerst, who entered the meet with a career best of 2:06.19. He swam a 2:04.91 in prelims on Saturday, which was a best time when he swam it. He was out fast on Saturday night, splitting 59.57 on the opening 100, then came home in 1:03.08.

Unattached 18-year-old Bridget McGann won the women’s 100 breast in 1:10.55 on Saturday night, coming in just off her personal best of 1:09.81. A rising freshman at Wisconsin, McGann was out in 33.00 on the first 50 of the race, then came home in 37.55. NASA Wildcat Aquatics 14-year-old Grace Koenig-Song came in 2nd in 1:10.82 after clocking a 1:10.31 in prelims. Koenig-Song has been as fast as 1:09.97 before, a time which she swam in March of this year.

RISE Aquatic Club 18-year-old Colin Zhang, a rising first-year at Penn, won the men’s 100 breast in 1:02.27. Zhang has been slightly faster than that before, having gone a 1:02.15 back in the summer of 2022.

Rising Texas sophomore Campbell Stoll, representing her home club of Elmbrook Swim Club, swam a 59.83 to win the women’s 100 fly. That swim was just off Stoll’s career best of 59.54, which she swam back in May of this year.

  • Men’s 400 free: Gustavo Saldo (Louisville) – 3:57.62
  • Men’s 100 fly: Charles Jones (Wisconsin) – 54.90
