Ahead of this weekend’s open water 10km World Cup stop in Abu Dhabi, Colin Hill, the director of ChillSwim, has posted a video of himself traversing the 2km loop that will make up the course for the elite swim on Friday.
In the background, you can see the high dive tower that will be a part of the FINA High Diving World Cup this weekend as well in Abu Dhabi. Both events will take place at the Abu Dhabi International Marine Sport Club which is on the city’s westernmost jutting into the Persian (Arabian) Gulf.
A total of $60,000 (split equally between men and women) will be awarded to participants of the open water race, with $7,000 going to the male and female winners each. Current water temperatures in the gulf are approximately 21 C/70 F – typically the coolest month of the year, and well off the summer temperatures as high as 90 degrees.
The High Diving World Cup runs from Saturday, February 27th-Monday, February 29th
