Thanks to Dave Bell for the above interview.
Andrew Seliskar talks about his meet at the 2015 Potomac Valley LSC Senior Championships, and his upcoming NCSA Junior National Championships, which he says will likely be his final meet as an 18 & under in yards (albeit just yards in prelims and meters in finals).
Seliskar says that he was on a 3-4 day rest, and a partial shave, when he went 5-for-5 in bets times on the weekend.
@ Johan
He just went 51.78 in the 100BRST this morning making him the 10th fastest American of all time in the event. He’d be 4th with that time at this years NCAA’s. I’d say he’s pretty much already Olympic caliber.
Can’t wait to see if he goes even faster tonight!
He may be a bit too short to be an elite one on world stage. He is more like Josh Prenot, a Jr at Cal, who is 5’11”. A great guy, a great college swimmer, but not an Olympic medalist.
There have been plenty of successful breaststrokers that weren’t very tall, Kosuke Hagino is very successful despite only being 5’10”, and Vlad Morozov is succeeding in a tall man’s game in the sprint freestyles.
Mike Barrowman was short
Great interview and great kid!!!
He’s really a beast in short course.
Very lucky Cal team.
Braden – just to clarify the written description above, I think you mean that *NCSA juniors* will be Seliskar’s final yards meet as an 18-under swimmer (not the just completed PV Senior Champs). Thanks.
He reminds me of Shields
Like Shields he is an unreal talent. He has a shot at going 12 for 12 in NCAA individual events.
Wow! So good for partial shave and taper. This kid is the future.
Enjoyed the interview!
