On the heels of a big home win against NC State, the Minnesota Golden Gopher men took home a pair of Big Ten weekly honors.
Kyler Van Swol was named Swimmer of the Week after some dominant butterfly performances, while Manny Pollard won Diver of the Week for his work on the boards. Northwestern got in on the action with just its second weekly award of the season with freshman diver Andrew Cramer.
Van Swol put up some big-time butterfly swims against NC State, going 46.90 in the 100 and 1:44.85 in the 200. Both were the fastest times in the nation for that week. He also put up big splits on Minnesota’s relays, including the winning 400 free relay. This is the fourth career Swimmer of the Week award for Van Swol, a senior.
Pollard won both diving events with ease against NC State. He scored 350.10 on 1-meter and topped that with a 378.98 3-meter score. Pollard, a sophomore, took home his second Big Ten Diver of the Week award.
Another diver made the weekly list, with Northwestern’s Andrew Cramer winning his second weekly award. Cramer won Freshman of the Week after winning both boards against conference rival Iowa. Cramer scored 315.14 on 1-meter and 351.45 on 3-meter to batter the Hawkeyes.
