Long Island Aquatic Club’s Cara Treble Commits to the Nittany Lions

Massapequa, New York’s Cara Treble has verbally committed to head to Happy Valley as a member of the Penn State University Class of 2020.

Treble, who swims for the Long Island Aquatic Club and attends Massapequa High School, is coming off a highly successful junior year of competition. She finished second in the 200y and 100y freestyle events at the 2014 Girls New York State Championships last November, finaled in multiple events at the NCSA Spring and Summer Junior Nationals, and achieved new personal bests in all of her primary events this past summer.

Treble’s best times are as follows:

SCY:

  • 50y freestyle: 23.72
  • 100y freestyle: 50.80
  • 200y freestyle: 1:48.75
  • 500y freestyle: 4:52.51
  • 1000y freestyle: 10:04.79
  • 100y backstroke: 56.63
  • 200y backstroke: 2:03.08

LCM:

  • 50m freestyle: 26.92
  • 100m freestyle: 57.02
  • 200m freestyle: 2:03.82
  • 400m freestyle: 4:23.56
  • 800m freestyle: 9:05.14

A U.S. Nationals qualifier in the 100 and 200 freestyles, and a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 50 and 400, Treble is strong in the entire range of freestyle events from the 50 to the 1000. Further improvements on her best times will put Treble in the mix to compete on relays for the Nittany Lions and score individual points at the Big Ten Championships.
