NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women’s swimming and diving team made a splash to start the 2025 portion of their schedule and during the program’s 50th anniversary celebration weekend. The Bulldogs picked up a 194.00-106.00 victory over Penn, and a 222.00-78.00 win over Dartmouth.
Yale improved its overall record to 6-0 and Ivy mark to 4-0. It also marks 104 wins for Robert J.H. Kiphuth Coach Jim Henry in the past 11 seasons.
Key Results
- In Friday’s diving events, Paige Lai won the 1M dive (297.05) and placed second in the 3M dive (274.15).
- Yale’s 200 yard medley relay quartet of Devyn Sargent, Jessey Li, Alex Massey, and Caroline McCurdy kicked off Saturday’s swimming events with a win, finishing at 1:42.57.
- Mabel Koff had a stellar day, picking up wins in the 200 yard freestyle (1:52.35), 200 yard backstroke (1:59.04), and 200 yard IM (2:04.47).
- Jessey Li won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.87.
- Massey picked up wins in the 200 yard butterfly (2:01.72) and 100 yard butterfly (55.75).
- Yale’s 400 yard freestyle relay quartet of McCurdy, Sargent, Lily Neumann, and Massey closed out competition in style with a win, finishing at 3:29.01.

The Bulldogs return to the pool at Cornell on Sunday, Jan. 19 and Monday, Jan. 20.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men’s swimming and diving team kicked off 2025 in style, picking up wins over Penn (190.50-109.50), and Dartmouth (192-108).
The Bulldogs improved their overall record to 5-0 and 4-0 in Ivy League action.

- Nicholas Chau kicked off Friday’s diving events with a win in the 3M dive (345.00).
- The 200 yard medley relay quartet of Jake Wang, Charlie Egeland, Nick Finch, and Noah Millard got Saturday’s swimming events started with a win, finishing at 1:28.55.
- Noah Millard picked up victories in the 200 yard freestyle (1:36.44), and 500 yard freestyle (4:25.48).
- Finch picked up wins in the 50 yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 20.03, and 100 yard butterfly (47.64).
- Yale’s 400 yard freestyle quartet of Deniel Nankov, Finch, Ben Meulemans, and Millard closed out competition with a victory, finishing at 2:59.25.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of Pennsylvania women’s swimming and diving team split a tri-meet Saturday afternoon at Yale’s Kiphuth Exhibition Pool.
The Quakers (7-3, 3-3 Ivy) defeated Dartmouth, 195-105, but fell to the Bulldogs, 194-106, to wrap up the weekend.
Anna Moehn won a pair of races in the 500 and 1,000 freestyle to lead the Penn women.
Quaker Notemeal
*Moehn was the quickest in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:11.89, with Anna Boeckman coming in third place (10:17.32). Moehn also won the 500 free with a time of 5:00.15.
*Amy Qin proved victorious in the 100 backstroke, clocking a 54.32.
*Kayla Fu took first place in the 50 free, timing in at 23.49.
*On the diving board, Rachel Yang took home first place in the three-meter dive, scoring a 285.35.
*The quartet of Qin, Kate Handley, Maggie Hu, and Fu clocked a 1:44.98 to place second in the 200 medley relay.
*Fu (51.31) and Qin (51.94) placed second and third, respectively, in the 100 free.
*It was the opposite finish in the 100 butterfly, this time with Qin taking second at 55.83 and Fu placing third (56.24).
*Meredith Holcomb’s 2:22.64 got her third place in the 200 breaststroke.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of Pennsylvania men’s swimming and diving team got back into the win column with a 154-146 victory over Dartmouth at Yale’s Kiphuth Exhibition Pool Saturday. However, the Quakers fell to the Bulldogs, 190.5-109.5.
Penn’s overall record improves to 2-5, its Ivy record to 1-5 with just two opponents remaining on the regular-season schedule.
Matt Fallon won a pair of races in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke, while Jeffrey Hou (200 butterfly) and James Curreri (200 backstroke) also picked up victories.
Quaker Notemeal
*Fallon’s time of 54.58 was good enough for first place in the 100 breast. He also won the 200 breast with a time of 1:58.33, finishing just ahead of teammate Peter Whittington (2:01.97) in third.
*Hou placed first in the 200 fly with a time of 1:49.90. Whittington took second place at 1:50.13.
*Curreri was once again dominant in the 200 back, clocking a 1:49.81. Daniel Gallagher placed third with a time of 1:50.70.
*Hou also took second place in the 100 fly with a time of 49.45, while Whittington reeled off his second third-place finish of the day in the 200 IM (1:51.83).
*The quartet of Hou, Watson Nguyen, Alex Fu, and Liam Campbell clocked a 1:30.97 in the 200 medley relay to place third.
*Cooper Nicholson timed a 9:39.94 to place third in the 1,000 free.
*Curreri followed up his win in the 200 back with a third-place finish in the 100 at 50.17.
*Campbell recorded a pair of third-place finishes in the 50 (20.78) and 100 free (46.26) events.
*Fallon had his third podium finish of the afternoon by placing third in the 500 free with a time of 4:36.09.
*Hou took second place in the 100 fly with a time of 49.45.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Samantha Li and Katherine Jia highlighted the women swimmers as the Dartmouth women’s swim and dive team wrapped up a dual meet at Yale on Saturday afternoon.
“Li and Jia led the women’s together with their tenacity in racing this meet. Sam is racing much faster in season than she did last year and that bodes well for what is in store for the end of the season. Kathy almost went her lifetime best time today just in a dual meet suit… the rest of the season is about to be very exciting,” said Head Coach Milana Socha.
Jia won the 100 breast against Penn with a time of 1:04.04. Jia also took first in the 200 breast with an impressive time of 2:16.76. Additionally, she took a win against Penn in the 200 IM, swimming a time of 2:05.40.
Samantha Li won the 50 free against Yale, swimming a 23.49 while also winning the 100 free overall with a time of 51.30.
McLane Gmelich swam a lifetime best in 200 back with a time of 2:10.53.
To round out the Big Green swimmers, the A and B 400 free relays went 1-2 over Penn with times of 3:30.07 and 3:38.89, respectfully.
“The women stepped up their game in terms of the level of support they gave to their teammates and the cheering and energy on the pool deck throughout the meet. It is exciting to see the team culture grow and get glimpses of what that means for collective performance down the line,” added Socha.
Dartmouth is back in action when they host Northeastern and UMass for the Tate Ramsden Invitational on Friday. January 17 and Saturday, January 18.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – McCoy Lyman qualified for NCAA diving zones and Colton Rasmussen won multiple events as the Dartmouth men’s swim and dive team completed a dual meet at Yale on Saturday afternoon.
On Friday, the mens 1-meter we went 1-2 against Yale and 1-2-3 against Penn. The mens 3-meter again went 1-2 against Penn with Lyman qualifying for NCAA zones with a score of 299.75. Aryeh Lesch scored a 280.85, placing him second on the 1-meter.
“Our divers really set the tone with how they showed up to compete on Friday. It is great to see them really stepping up against Ivy competitors,” said Head Coach Milana Socha.
On the swimming side, Tommy Erwin won the 1000 free against Penn with a season best time of 9:33.77.
Isaac Weigel and Jacob Turner went 1-2 against Penn in the 200 free with times of 1:40.13 and 1:41.92. Respectfully.
Colton Rasmussen took first in the 100 back as the only man in the field to break 50 seconds with a time of 49.83. He also took first in the 100 free, swimming a 45.25.
“Colton Rasmussen was on fire this meet. It has been exciting this season to watch him start to see that he can be one of the best swimmers in the League,” said Socha.
Yan Dvoretskiy won the 200 fly against Yale with a time of 1:49.90 and Jacob Turner swam to a first place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 1:49.53 as the only competitor to break 1:50.
The Big Green A 400 free relay team won against Penn with a time of 3:01.06.
“Our men leaned into the opportunity to battle with Penn and while we didn’t come out on top I’m very proud of how they stayed in the fight throughout the whole meet. This is the closest the team has been to Penn in a dual meet in a number of years and to compete well, with some fast times, in mid-January shows that they are really progressing and climbing as a team,” noted Socha.
