Sydney Aird, a Senior at Bay Port High School in Green Bay, Wisconsin has committed to swim at University of Northern Iowa beginning in Fall 2022. She also swims club for Howard Suamico Storm Breakers.

Aird won the 100 breaststroke (1:03.48) in a personal best time at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 1 Championships in April 2021, .4 seconds ahead of second place Sydney Hoff (who is going to Illinois State). Aird also finished in a tie for 12th in the 200 IM (2:12.33) at the same meet. The meet is typically held in November, but was moved to April for the 2020-2021 school year.
At the WIAA Girls Division I State Championships in November 2021, Aird placed 6th in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.34).

At the 2021 and 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Championships, University of Northern Iowa placed 5th.
Aird’s personal best from April 2021 and her time from state championships in November 2021 would rank her first for the Panthers by almost a second. Her best time in the 200 breast (2:23.53) would rank her 3rd for Northern Iowa this year.
Aird would rank 6th in the 100 breaststroke and 20th in the 200 breaststroke in the Missouri Valley Conference this season. She will overlap with breaststroker Mia Savicevic for one season. At the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Championships, Savicevic placed 4th in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.33) and 5th in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.16) as a freshman, which are still her best times.
Other swimmers in the Northern Iowa class of 2022 include Hannah Nedder, Rachel Lenz, diver Erica Peters, and Madison Carleton. All five athletes in that group are from either Wisconsin or Iowa, with Lenz being the other Wisconsinite.
