Despite the ESPN+ camera angle displaying the most empty part of the stands by the diving well, the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center is still nearly packed at the 2025 men’s NCAA championships, with around 80-85% of the seating being filled up.
South grandstand, or the right side of the aquatic center (relative to positioning behind the diving blocks) is packed to the brim. Meanwhile, the North grandstand is mostly full at the center, with empty seats by the diving well and the warmup pool.
Tv angle is misleading in terms of how full it is. I’d say it’s 80-85% full, which means over 2,000 spectators.
Just this one awkward gap behind Tennessee. A team block should be there but it’s like they didn’t show up for finals? pic.twitter.com/Fmx795smC2

Here are some photos of the stands from the perspective of the media row right above the South grandstand bleachers:
Meanwhile, this is the view on ESPN:
Arguably the biggest cheering contingent at the competition is California, which has fan sections in both the South and North grandstand. There are also noticeable cheering sections for Texas, Indiana and Arizona State.
The Weyerhaeuser Aquatic Center has total a capacity of 2,500. In 2012, the last time men’s NCAAs was hosted there, there was a total attendance of 8,194, or an average of 2,049 per session.
An outdoor team could easily host the meet. Maybe in Tempe or Los Angeles? Berkley/Palo Alto might be chilly. Phoenix Metro is excellent this time of year; spectators can loop it in with Spring Training games.
I’m not sure how well outdoor diving works, though…
Big Sean Spicer energy
are we splitting hairs? the added pictures still look underwhelming
Yeah…. Thanks to the CAL fans!
I love this pool but don’t understand why this meet is held in WA. What is the closest DI men’s team? 1200 miles? Home meet for Cal or Stanford?
Sad that no West Coast schools can host
Yeah and the host team doesn’t have a men’s program (Washington State).
So no team has a home pool advantage? Sounds like a great idea! Maybe having more west coast events will help bring more swim teams back to this side of the country?
West Coast schools have outdoor pools. I don’t think NCAAs has ever been held outside but I might be wrong.
It was at Indiana’s pool last year, and Minnesota’s pool the year before that. Plus they’ve always used this pool for the Pac-12 championships
Washington cancelled its men’s and women’s team in 2009. Men’s team had been around for over 70 years. Unfortunately, the House settlement if approved will continue to shrink the opportunities for swimming and diving. Say goodbye.
Seattle University is D1 since 2009 but I don’t think they have ever had a qualifier, just some B cuts.
hope I can watch this live one day 😢
Make plans and DO IT! I waited WAY too long and I am THRILLED to be here!
I like this facility. I’ve attended several events here. I am curious what the seating capacity is here compared to say… Austin, Greensboro, Georgia etc.
Much bigger than UGA. I think similar to Austin
It’s a fast pool. One of the top 5 fastest pools in the U.S.
Speaking of fast pools, why doesn’t Brown Deer ever host big meets anymore?
The UVA parents are probably the big gap during finals
so clever…
