Natalie Schumann and Jessica Campbell are leading our coverage from on deck at this week’s Big Ten Men’s Championship meet.
Tonight, they caught Wisconsin’s Michael Weiss after his 400 IM. Weiss went from totally unknown around the country to putting up times that has him on the precipice of national, and maybe international, stardom for the United States. Weiss has a confidence about him – but it’s a relaxed confidence. He knows that he’s good, but he seems to appreciate the process. He feels good about what he’s done, about the work that he’s done, and where it’s taken him. He’s relaxed. That all comes through in his voice. He doesn’t brag, but he repeatedly gives homage to the circumstances that allowed him to execute the plan that he’d worked so hard on, and that is the essence of swimming.
Watch the interview above, as he talks about his breath-taking 3:39.17 Pool Record in the 400 IM.
Michael Weiss – CONGRATULATIONS! WHAT A SWIM!
I can’t wait to see you SHINE at NCAAs and this summer at World Trials and beyond!
