The 2016 FINA World Cup stop in Berlin brought plenty of fast swimming, as we saw international standouts including Katinka Hosszu, Alia Atkinson, Chad Le Clos, and Vlad Morozov claim gold again as they compete to see who comes out on top in the overall standings.
Hauling in another $10,000 bonus, Russia’s Vlad Morozov broke his own World Record in the men’s 100 IM, lowering it to a 50.30. A pair of American Records were also broken by Katie Meili, who posted a 1:02.92 in the 100 breast and a 58.12 in the 100 IM.
Several swimmers won multiple events over the course of the meet, including Denmark’s Jeanette Ottesen, who won the 50 fly, 50 free, 100 fly, and 100 free. South Africa’s Chad Le Clos swept the fly events, narrowly missing his own World Record in the 100 fly with a 48.66. Winning the most events overall, however, was Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu, who claimed gold in 7 races and medaled in 11.
