Wagner Swimming and Diving tops Saint Francis

The Wagner women’s swimming & diving team won its second straight home meet with a 119-81 victory over Saint Francis U on Friday night.

Junior Amanda Lucia (Easthampton, MA / Easthampton) broke another pool record when she swam the 200 yard butterfly in a time of 2:02.44. The previous record was set last year by Kwok from LIU Post when she registered a mark of 2:03.78.

Sophomore Grace Baird (Lexington, NC / West Davidson High School) finished first in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 17:36.18 while freshman Kirsty Hessing (Bloomington, IL / Normal Community) won the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:17.23.

Sophomore Anu Nihipali (Honolulu, HI / Hawaii Preparatory Academy) took first in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:09.20 while fellow Hawaii native, freshman Leahi Camacho (Kailua Kona, HI / Kealakene), ca[tured the 200 yard backstroke by recording a time of 2:10.68. Rounding out the individual wins for the Green & White was senior Samantha Sides (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill East) who won the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 25.07.

The Seahawks’ 200 yard medley relay team, comprised of junior Michele Detka (Buckeye, AZ / Verrado (University of Houston)), sophomore Katja Claesson (Fullerton, CA / Troy High School), Nihipali, and Sides, also won the in a time of 1:47.77

The Wagner women’s swimming & diving team defeat Siena

The Wagner women’s swimming & diving team won its third straight home meet with a 150-88 victory over Siena on Saturday afternoon, and finish the first semester dual meet schedule with a record of 8-1.

Sophomore Anu Nihipali (Honolulu, HI / Hawaii Preparatory Academy) won the 50 and 100 yard freestyle with times of 25.25 and 55.41, respectively. Senior Morgan Stoner (Greensburg, PA / Hempfield Area Senior) won the 200 yard freestyle by recording a time of 2:03.31.

Junior Erin Malone (Sewell, NJ / Washington Township) won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.45 while freshman Maddie McNichol (Downingtown, PA / Hendersonwon) the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:12.60.

Freshman Kristine Sullivan (Overland Park, KS / Notre Dame de Sion) placed first in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:14.80 while junior Amanda Lucia (Easthampton, MA / Easthampton) won the 100 yard butterfly by recording a time of 57.74. Rounding out the individual wins for the Green & White was sophomore Grace Baird (Lexington, NC / West Davidson High School) with a time of 5:14.84 in the 500 yard freestyle.

The Seahawks’ 400 yard medley relay team, comprised of sophomore Katja Claesson (Fullerton, CA / Troy High School), Malone, Lucia, and McNichol won the event in a time of 4:04.20. The Wagner team of junior Corinne Rondina (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy), junior Michelle Detka (Buckeye, AZ / Verrado (University of Houston)), freshman Kirsty Hessing (Bloomington, IL / Normal Community ), and Baird also won the 400 yard freestyle relay by recording a time of 3:43.90.

Junior diver Erica Curry (Fountain Valley, CA / Fountain Valley) swept the dive events by winning the 1-meter and the 3-meter with scores of 228.15 and 238.75. respectively. Senior Mallory Lee (Newark, CA / Moreau Catholic) finished second in the 1-meter with a score of 216.75 while freshman Sam Lavrich (Audubon, PA / Methacton) placed second in the 3-meter recording a score of 217.73.
