New Haven, CT– The Wagner men’s and women’s swimming teams earned victories over Southern Connecticut State and Central Connecticut State University on Friday.
Wagner’s women’s team defeated Northeast Conference (NEC) foe CCSU 126.00-95, while earning a 149.00-64.00 victory over Southern Connecticut State. This marks the first dual meet victory over the Blue Devils since 2019. For the men’s team, they defeated Southern Connecticut State 149.00-82.00.
For the women’s team, sophomore Rebekka Luoto earned first place in the 200-yard IM in 2:09.46. Luoto also won first place in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:10.66 and in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:27.64.
Freshman Mia Goodale won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:55.11 while freshman Savran Gaya won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:05.22. In the 50-yard freestyle, graduate student Allie D’Allegro earned first place in 24.41. Also freshman Kaylin Lila earned first place in the 100-yard freestyle in 54.02.
The Seahawks then took first place in the 200-yard medley relay, with senior Shamiya Guirre, freshmans Lovisa Ramsten, Kaylin Lila and graduate Allie D’Allegro in 1:48.30. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Wagner earned first place with graduate Allie D’Allegro, freshmans Gaya Savran, Lovisa Ramsten, and Mia Goodale.
On the men’s side, graduate Enrico Mancardo earned first place in the 50-yard freestyle in 20.97 and also won first place in the 100 yard freestyle in 46.46. In the 200-yard butterfly, sophomore Nikko Carrillo earned first place in 1:53.14. Sophomore Adrian Moreno earned first place in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:10.04. Additionally, freshman Ben Mclaughlin came in first place in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:48.38.
In the Men’s 200-yard freestyle relay, Wagner won first place in 1:26.01 which was led by juniors Alex Magditch, Joel Knappi, Ruben Van Gool, and sophomore Jose Mancera. Freshman Florian Schumich earned first place in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:55.29.
Wagner will return to action November 9th at Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY.

The Central Connecticut State swimming and diving team split dual meets on Friday night. The Blue Devils defeated Southern Connecticut State 138-82, while falling 126-96 to Wagner in a meet hosted by SCSU.
The Blue Devils return to action on Friday, November 8 at Suydam Natatorium when they host Friday Night Sprints.
FREESTYLE
- Taylor Demarest swam 10:57.95 in the 1,000 free to take home second place, while Sophia Pincince clocked a fourth-place finish with a swim of 11:16.59
- Lauryn Cowing was the fourth-place finisher in the 50-freestyle, going 25.21
- Katrine O’Leary finished in the runner-up slot in the 100 free, with a swim of 54.15, just .13 off the winning time
- Gabby Spaciano was fourth in the race, with a swim of 54.74
- Maggie Rutledge clocked a 5:11.33 to take second place in the 500 free
- Spaciano finished third with a 5:13.80 and Lauren Lord was fourth with a swim of 5:23.10
STROKES
- Megan Dunnigan finished second at 1:56.65 in the 200 freestyle, just in front of her teammate, Sophie Milhomens, who touched third at 1:57.05
- Gabi Wroblewski took home bronze in the 200 IM with a swim of 2:15.33
- Milhomens went 2:09.07 to take home second place in the 200 fly, with Kyle Berhle (2:14.52) and Marley Milne (2:17.20) in the next two spots
- Dunnigan picked up the win in the 200 backstroke, putting up a time of 2:08.07, more than two seconds clear of the second-place finisher
- Grace Young took silver in the 200 breaststroke, .01 behind the winner, touching with a time off 2:27.65
DIVING
- Jewelle Maziarz won the 1-meter diving, scoring 221.05 points
- Zoe Baker was close behind with 219.55 points and Kaitlyn Carroll took third with 204.20 points
- Kristin Krause tallied 176.05 points and Rachel Giroux scored 155.45 points
RELAYS
- Milhomens (27.51), Young (31.86), Cowing (26.33) and O’Leary (24.59) captured second in the 200 medley relay, with a time of 1:50.29
- O’Leary (25.00), Cowing (25.00) Dunnigan (24.69) and Spaciano (25.05) combined to go 1:39.74 in the 200 freestyle relay, good for second place.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After a short time off, Southern Connecticut fell to both Wagner and CCSU at the SCSU Tri-Meet. Wagner defeated the Owls 64-149 and CCSU beat the Owls 82-138.
200 Yard Medley Relay
The Owls 200 Medley Relay consisting of Hailey Nyquist, Arianna Arturi, Justice Glasgow, and Ella Marzec finished third with a time of 1:51.48.
1000 Yard Freestyle
Jasmine Uricchio took first place in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:50.55.
200 Yard Freestyle
Brooke Keeney was the Owls top finisher in the 200 Free with a time of 2:01.24 for fifth.
50 Yard Freestyle
In the 50 Free, Molly Kennedy finished in second with a time of 24.62.
200 Yard Individual Medley
Abby Lyons finished sixth with a time of 2:17.12 in the 200 IM.
200 Yard Butterfly
In the 200 Fly, Lindsay McCawley finished with a time of 2:18.18 for fifth place.
100 Yard Freestyle
Arturi finished third in the 100 Free with a time of 54:31. Jasmine Uricchio finished with a time of 56.56 for fifth.
500 Yard Freestyle
In the 500 Free, Kennedy finished with a time of 5:23.72 for fifth
200 Yard Breaststroke
Emma St. Hilaire finished in third with a time of 2:30.37 in the 200 Breast.
200 Yard Freestyle Relay
The Owls relay team of Marzec, Nyquist, Kennedy, and Aralyn Vogel finished third in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:42.15.
