CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams welcome Wisconsin to the Aquatic and Fitness Center for a two-day dual meet beginning on Friday (Oct. 25).
Admission to Virginia swimming and diving meets is free to the public. Public parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at Slaughter Recreation Center and the parking lot closest to the West Gate at Scott Stadium.

Promotions
Friday will be a Sabre Rewards event with first 250 UVA students receiving free Domino’s pizza at the start of the swimming session at 4 p.m.
Saturday’s competition will be Cavman’s Crew Day and will feature a face painter and balloon artist located in the lobby of the AFC.
Against the Badgers
• The Cavaliers and Badgers will go head-to-head in the pool for the first time since the 2013-14 season when the two teams competed in a double-dual meet with Virginia Tech in Christiansburg, Va.
• Virginia swept Wisconsin at the meet, winning the men’s competition 240-127 and the women’s meet 225-139
• Wisconsin’s last trip to Charlottesville was the season prior, 2012-13, again competing in a double-dual meet with the Hokies. The Cavaliers swept that January meeting with the Badgers, topping the men’s matchup 185-163 and the women’s meet 182-176.
Hoos Leading the Race
• Seven Cavaliers sit atop the NCAA in an event after the opening weeks of competition.
• Junior Paige Madden (Mobile, Ala.) leads the nation in a pair of events, holding the top time in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.51) and 500-yard freestyle (4:38.67).
• Freshman Kate Douglass (Pelham, N.Y.) is the only female swimmer in the NCAA this season to break a minute in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.55). She also holds the top time in the country in the 200-yard individual medley (1:55.15).
• Junior Keefer Barnum (Louisville, Ky.) has shown dominance in the breaststroke events, recording the top time in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke (53.07; 1:56.74).
• Freshman Maddie Donohoe (Annandale, Va.) sits atop the mile (16:21.68) with more than a 20 second gap between her and the No. 2 swimmer in the country Brooke Lamoureux (Akron; 16:45.46).
• Freshman Jack Walker (Charlotte, N.C.) holds the top time in the 500-yard freestyle (4:18.46), while senior Joe Clark (Worcester Park, Great Britain) leads the country in the 100-yard backstroke (46.51).
• Sophomore Casey Storch (Great Falls, Va.) captured the top time nationally in the 400-yard individual medley (3:48.36), leading the event by over four seconds.
Last Time Out
• Virginia suffered a loss in its first dual meet of the season to Tennessee, who was ranked 15th on the women’s side and 16th on the men’s side at the time.
• Despite the loss, Madden had a strong showing at the meet, winning the 200, 500 and 1000-yard freestyle.
• Storch won a pair of events as he came away with the win in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:00.08) and 200-yard individual medley (1:49.00).
• Seniors Sydney Dusel (Naperville, Ill.) and Bryce Shelton (Vienna, Va.) opened the 2019-20 season with wins. Dusel recorded a score of 282.68 to win the 1m dive, while Shelton topped the 3m dive with a score of 374.42.
• Walker won the 500-yard freestyle (4:24.42), sophomore Alexis Wenger (Detroit, Mich.) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.68), junior Samuel Schilling (Excelsior, Minn.) won the 200-yard freestyle (1:38.21) and senior Ted Schubert (Ashland, Va.) won the 200-yard butterfly (1:47.23) to round out the meet for the Cavaliers.
