Villanova Women Reclaim Lead, Xavier Men Continue Relay Domination on Day 2 of Big East Champs

2025 BIG EAST Conference Championships

Women’s Recap

The Villanova and UConn women went head-to-head on night two of competition, virtually dominating the top eight of each event, while the other teams managed to sneak a few performers into the mix as well.

Despite the Wildcats and the Huskies both amassing hundreds of points to surge ahead in the standings, each team only won one event, with Georgetown, Seton Hall and Xavier each walking away with a victory.

The night opened with Seton Hall’s Allie Waggoner taking home the title in the 500 free, posting a time of 4:45.45 to become the back-to-back champion in the event and land an NCAA ‘B’ cut.

The 200 IM saw Georgetown’s Angelica Reali prevail in a lifetime best 1:59.83; Reali shaved .7 off of her previous best, marking her first time under 2:00. Also turning in top performances was Villanova’s Anna Farley (2:00.36) and Meghan Tiernan (2:01.00), who took 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Both personal best times, the pair now rank #7 and #8 on the Wildcats’ all-time top 10 performers list in the event.

Xavier’s Olivia Oyster blasted into the wall with a 22.57 to secure the victory, narrowly beating out UConn freshman Jessica Sheng (22.67). Oyster’s win came after qualifying in the top spot and setting a new school record with a time of 22.31 during the prelims.

UConn dominated the women’s 3-meter diving event, placing an astonishing six athletes in the A-final and placing 1st through 4th. Olivia Denery led the way, taking home the championship title with 290.45 points.

Villanova’s lone victory came in the 200 free relay, thanks to the team of Carlota Colomer, Riley Kudlac, Lainey Quinones and Lexi Elkovitch. The Wildcats threw down a time of 1:31.29, marking the 5th-fastest performance in program history.

Xavier and UConn both set new program records in the 200 free relay, with the Musketeers narrowly beating out the Huskies by just .03. Xavier’s Oyster, Reese Turner, Molly Dynda and Alexis Worrall teamed up to post a time of 1:31.74, while UConn’s team of Sheng, Lexi Martino, Maggie Rhodes and Maggie Donlevy turned in a 1:31.77.

Men’s Recap

Georgetown is holding onto their early lead for now after winning two of the four events on night two.

The Hoyas kicked off the meet with an early victory, as Jack Januario claimed the 500 free title in 4:23.20. Januario is now the back-to-back champion in the event. Meanwhile Seton Hall’s Sean Vizzard also repeated his results from last year, securing the runner-up spot in 4:24.08.

Seton Hall freshman Balint Marosi, who already earned one championship title after helping his team to victory in the 800 free relay on night one, recorded his second title of the meet and first individual win in the 200 IM. Marosi threw down a time of 1:46.47, knocking over a second off of his lifetime best.

The freshmen were on fire last night, as Owen Watkins landed Georgetown its second victory of the night. Watkins blasted into the wall in a personal best time of 19.71, .27 ahead of runner-up Toma Adam (19.98).

For the 7th-straight year, Xavier prevailed in the 200 free relay to close out the night. The team of Aiden Leamer, Kyle Hudson, Ethan Saunders and Gage Hannewyk threw down a time of 1:20.54, narrowly edging out Seton Hall (1:20.83) and setting a new school record.

Is there video available of the men’s 500 final? Looks like the winner made his move in the final 50 after trailing the whole race, would be great to track down some video of that race.

Haven’t found one yet, but will keep looking.

I’m sure you can watch the replay on Flo, but it will cost you your first born.

Tbh it’s ridiculous that Big East is partnering with Flo. $20 to live stream this meet is outrageous. Parents either have to fly from the east coast to the middle of nowhere in Ohio or pay to a bad streaming platform to watch their kids.
It used to be free on YouTube or Big East Digital Network.

Georgetown actually tied Xavier in the 200 Free Relay, but they had a -0.01 reaction time by the 3rd swimmer so DQ.

Seems like they DQ a relay every year making the meet closer than it should be
