VIDEO INTERVIEW: Olympic Medalist Michael Jamieson Talks Austrian Training Holiday, Technique Changes

Since winning silver at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, Michael Jamieson has had some ups-and-downs in his career. While he had a very good short course season in 2013, his long course work in 2013 and 2014 resulted in times slower than his Olympic marks in both the 100 and 200. He did, however, win more silvers – this time at the Commonwealth Games..

Meanwhile, the landscape in the breaststrokes has gotten markedly tougher, both domestically and internationally.

Jamieson responded to that shift by spending an extended training holiday in Austraia this fall training with Dirk Lange. Lange is viewed somewhat as a breaststroke guru, counting among his charges Italy’s Fabio Scozzoli, South African Cameron van der Burgh, and South African Giulio Zorzi.

Lange has also previously worked with Marco Koch of Germany, the defending European Champion.

Above, Jamieson discusses his time in Austria, as well as his first major swim since the Commonwealth Games on Saturday, where he took bronze in the 100 breaststroke.
