Versatile Kara Lydzinski Hands Verbal Commitment to Boston University

Somerset Valley YMCA’s Kara Lydzinski has verbally committed to Boston University. Dan Roth, Director of Competitive Aquatics at Somerset Valley YMCA had this to say about his swimmer, “Kara is a versatile sprinter with the ability to contribute in all four strokes.  She is the kind of recruit that can help a collegiate program in a number of ways in and out of the pool.”

Lydzinski is a Speedo Winter Juniors qualifier who, Roth believes, could play a key role in SVY’s women’s sprint relays at YMCA Short Course Nationals this April. She is a senior at Montgomery High School in Skillman, New Jersey, for whom she has swum 50/100/200 freestyles and 100 fly throughout her high school career.

Lydzinski competed in the 50 free and 100/200 breast at 2015 Speedo Winter Juniors East and time-trialed the 100 fly and 200 IM. Most of her best times come from last March’s New Jersey Junior Olympics, but she also added new times this summer while swimming at the YMCA Long Course Championships.

Best times:

  • 50 free – 23.86
  • 100 free – 52.03
  • 200 free – 1:53.01
  • 100 breast – 1:04.12
  • 200 breast – 2:20.95
  • 100 fly – 56.57
  • 100 back – 59.63
  • 200 IM – 2:06.19
