USA Swimming has unveiled the changes that will be made to the 2013 World University Games rosters, and as it turns out they have decided to replace swimmers who were pulled up. The confusion lay in the dates on the original rules document, which USA Swimming says had been changed several times without an updated document.
The following changes were made after the results of the World Championships roster, kindly compiled by Karen Linhart of USA Swimming:
· Catherine Breed has removed herself from the WUGS team. Liv Jensen, who is already on the team, will swim the 100 free. Jasmine Tosky will be the replacement in the 4X200 free relay.
· Andi Murez will be added to the team in the 4X100 free relay.
· Cordes, Johnson, McBroom, Godsoe and Luchsinger have all made the World Championship team and will be removed from WUGs.
· Cordes will be replaced by Miller, new addition, in the 50, 100, 200 breast.
· Johnson will be replaced by Alexandrov in the 200 breast who is already on the team.
· McBroom will be replaced by athletes who are already on the team. Hinshaw in the 400 free and Feeley in the 1500 free.
· Godsoe will be replaced by new addition James Wells in the 50 and 100 back.
· Luchsinger will be replace by Whitaker who is already on the team.
· Romano and Chenault are relay only swimmers for world champs and will swim at both competitions (per the rules).

Braden,
Do you know why they passed on Josh Prenot for a WUG spot? Just curious ’cause the Trial results showed that Prenot placed very well – 4th in 400 IM and 5th in 200 IM.
calFan – the teams were selected based on the US Open meet last year (had to be selected ahead of time because of quick turnaround time on Visas). Prenot didn’t swim that meet, though a lot of other Cal swimmers did, so he couldn’t swim at the WUG’s. Hope that clears things up!
I’m haplessly confused on the WUG selection process. Wouldn’t it make more sense to base it off this years worlds trials? Somebody like Molly Haines, who is swimming out of her mind ATM, makes no team and Schmitt who would have been a good addition is also left off?
Correct. Per rules, if someone is swimming at Worlds only on relays, they can do both meets.
That doesn’t seem very fair. Now with people who obviously tapered for World Trials, who didn’t make the team, will now retaper for WUGs and then retaper for Worlds? Seems like at the end of the day all we will get is subpar swimming.
