USA Swimming’s most recent count shows that 957 athletes have officially qualified to swim at the 2016 US Olympic Team Trials in Omaha, Nebraska next summer. Since the end of the Arena Pro Swim meet in Charlotte, more than fifteen swimmers have qualified for the event as well. As of May 28th, roughly 942 athletes had qualified for the Olympic Trials. We did see a few foreign athletes in that count, however, which threw off the count a little bit. The few foreign names we did see two weeks ago have been removed, which gives us a more accurate count. With just over a year remaining to qualify for the meet, they are on track to catch match their number of participants from the 2012 US Olympic Trails with 1,831 participating athletes.
The Santa Clara stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series is the final stop of the series for the summer, and will transition USA swimming into championship season. We expect to see the biggest spike in the number of qualifiers over the next two months as swimmers begin to taper.
Below is a list of all of the qualifiers to date for the 2016 Olympic Trials, as well as a list of all the 18&under qualifiers in each event.

Conger is listed in the 100 free list ! excited to see what he can do and maybe quality for a 400 free relay spot .
Come on Paige Madden, drop about 3 seconds in 200 free in a year and you can make the 4X200!!! 1:57 can do it!
Can someone help me understand how having half the amount of qualifiers a year out is anywhere close to matching the 2012 number of participants?
TrialsOG – for a quick comparison, the women’s 50 free as of June 16th, 2011 had 73 qualifiers. This year, on basically the same date, there are 86. 100 free in 2011 had 76 at this point, now there are 65. 200 free has 75 in 2015, 83 in 2011. Men’s 50 free had 83 in 2011, now has 86.
As Tony wrote above, things are on track to come to a similar number, though that picture will become clearer in the next three months as we get into the long course season.
